"Roe V. Wade overturned continued"

Article by A.Tea

"A young girl who had it all. This young girl was going to change the world, everything. But what stopped her was the possibility of dying due to a rape incident that got her pregnant. She was only twelve years old when someone raped her, and she had a high possibility of death due to giving birth at such a young age. But since Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortions were no longer available to people like her, people who can get pregnant. Eight months later, she died due to complications. But her baby survived! But was forced into the foster care system due to her parents kicking her out because she was pregnant at a young age. The baby never got adopted like the 437,000 other children. Throughout the system, the baby who soon became a teenager was treated brutally and received to little to no care."

That story might be exactly the same or somewhat similar to millions of people out there. The young girl could have still lived and made a change she's always wanted if she could have gotten an abortion. Do we want more young people's futures to be like that? According to the National Library of Medicine, "An estimated 70 000 adolescent mothers die each year because they have children before they are physically ready for parenthood." Do we want to continue the next generation of CHILDREN who have the potential to die, when there was a way they could have stayed alive?

Not only for the person that got pregnant but also for the many children who are forced out of their own will into a system that will never recognize them as true human beings. According to the World Health Organization, "up to 1 billion children aged 2–17 years, have experienced physical, sexual, or emotional violence or neglect in the past year (1)." Do we want more children to experience that?

What Do you want our future to be?
